I’ve started a new category of posting called Preposterous!. Though I don’t wish to make a dinosaur hill (though i like the word preposterous because it sounds so dinosaurish) out of the outrageous things we find in our society, there is a place for doing a bit of chronicling of these that seem so ridiculous.
I mean preposterous to be 1) beyond all reason and 2) so senseless as to be laughable. You may feel free to offer contributions to this category.
Our first contribution comes from Christine Brennan writing in the USA Today. She documents a case where morals matter less than muscles.

This goes way behond high school. Look at professional football. Jason is an Eagles’ fan, so he’s kept his eye on the situation with Terrell Owens. He didn’t commit a crime, but he’s a terrible team player and he lacks self-discipline. He makes millions and Dallas had no qualms signing him on for this season. With examples like this, it’s no wonder younger athletes think they’re invincible as well.
This certainly brings up another thought – putting our boys into competitive sports. Are these the values we want our children to learn? I would like for my boys to be in sports some day, but if being good ranks higher than doing good, I’d rather opt out.
Christian parents (and I put myself at the top of the list) have a lot to teach and even more to learn.
