Try explaining to a 4 year old and 2 year old that stealing is ok in baseball.

In my tender 40+ years I have spent more time in the halls of elected officials than any sane person should have to. I have come to the conclusion that politicians are comfortable with the knowledge “they didn’t invent the system, they just cheat by the rules” .
To quote a sports show host, “If you’re not cheatin’ you’re not tryin’ and it’s only cheatin’ if you get caught”. That little aphorism appears to be true in politics as well as sports. So stealing in baseball is ok unless you’re thrown out. So let’s say as Pap did in Huck Finn “It’s not stealing, it’s borrowing” and so “he borrowed second base, but he was thrown out trying to steal third base” (He was finally caught.)
Someday I would like someone to explain to me why the intentional foul in basketball is ok. Hey, I would settle for someone explaining to me the object of basketball.
