As a Chinese American who was conscientious in acquiring English, I shall refrain from saying too much about the Engrish.

Doubtless the lack of freely available Bibles in China has contributed to the emergence of such sinister cults as Eastern Lightning.

Go under "spectators", then scroll down to "places of worship" and read the politically correct paragraph and link. All religions are welcome there, at least for the Olympics, it appears. Yes, there are Christian churches in Beijing, but only those w/ a foreign passport are allowed to attend and there are a few topics they aren't allowed to speak about.

We really need to pray for our brothers and sisters there. The country will aim to show the world how free it is, but when the last camera is gone it will be interesting to see what happens. Having met such precious people there it makes it all the more real to us.

While visiting in my home, my Chinese friend Chai Jin showed me a series of pictures on his computer. One of these pictures was of a "Christian bookstore" in China. Jin asked, "Do you know which book is not available at this store?" You guessed it! The Bible! Hey, when it comes to a Christian bookstore in China there is such a thing as going too far!

The good news is that Jin also told me of many other Christians and of several college teachers from American and Germany that witness while teaching there.
